Went to tractor supply yesterday and got some parts i need for the logging winch I am trying to rig up on our old forwarding trailer. I’ve driven by a couple of times and seen the parking lot so full that I didn’t bother, but it was relatively empty yesterday. Got everything I needed so far, snatch block, some bolts, some drill bits, but bare spots are beginning to show up on the shelves. I wondered when this would happen. A month and a half ago, when I ordered some meat birds chicks, I did it in a fit of panic, sure that there would be meat shortages by the end of the summer. And equally sure that Trump and Co are incapable of long range planning for the country or anyone except themselves. Now I am wondering about the endless supply of cheap semi-industrial stuff that has been filling the shelves of Tractor Supply and countless other stores for years. Gradually that stuff has to start drying up as the existing flow from ships already at sea and containers already in docks trickles down. What then?
